Joslit 2025 - Intercollegiate Competition

The Department of English, St. Joseph’s College of Arts & Science (Autonomous), Cuddalore, successfully organized JOSLIT 2K25, an intercollegiate literary fest, on February 28, 2025. The event provided a dynamic platform for students to showcase their literary skills, engage in team work, and celebrate the power of language and creativity. The inauguration commenced with a keynote address by Dr. L. Kulandai Terese Fatima, Associate Professor, Department of English, C. Kandaswami Naidu College for Women, Cuddalore, in the presence of Rev. Fr. M. Swaminathan, Secretary of the College, Dr. M. Arumai Selvam, the Principal, Dr. J. Jon Arockiaraj, the Senior Vice Principal, Rev. Fr. S. Xavier, the CoE, and Mr. V.R Suresh Kumar, the Head of the Department. She delivered an insightful talk on dystopian literature, highlighting its relevance in contemporary society and its role in shaping critical perspectives on social norms, technology, and resilience. The fest witnessed enthusiastic participation, with eleven colleges competing in various events and over 182 participants showcasing their talents. Participating colleges included: Govt. Arts and Science College, Hosur, Sacred Heart College, Tiruppatur, Tagore Arts College, Pondicherry, Pope John Paul College of Education, Pondicherry, Immaculate College, Viriyur, Immaculate College Chinnakanganankuppam, Don Bosco College Yelaagiri, John Dewey College, Panruti, Kandasamy Naidu College, Cuddalore, and Idhaya College, Pondicherry. The competitions were designed to challenge students’ creativity, critical thinking, and literary knowledge. The offline events included: Dramatic Reading Rhyme Fest Modern Art Literary Mix & Match Alternate End Writing Lit. Trials Meme Masters All the World’s a Stage (Talent Show) Quiz Battle Oral Olympics Additionally, two online events—Design a Cover and Trailer Creation—gave participants an opportunity to exhibit their artistic and digital media skills. The valedictory session was graced by Dr. K. Ganeshram, who spoke on the importance of storytellers in society. He emphasized how narratives shape cultures, preserve history, and influence perspectives, reinforcing the significance of literature in everyday life. Dr. James Mary, Vice Principal (Shift-II Student Discipline) presided over the session. After an intense competition across multiple events, Immaculate College for Women, Chinnakanganankuppam, Cuddalore emerged as the overall champions, while Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women, Pondicherry secured the runners-up position. The festival concluded with a grand valedictory ceremony, where faculty members and participants appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee. Dr. X. Ann Lanka Jeyadarshini was the organizing secretary of the event. She thanked all faculty and student volunteers for the success of the event. JOSLIT 2K25 successfully fostered a spirit of learning, creativity, and collaboration, leaving a lasting impact on all attendees.

Bird Census 2025 A Step Towards Avian Conservation

On March 8, 2025, the District Forest Department, Cuddalore, conducted a comprehensive Bird Census in the ecologically significant regions of Marudhaadu and Devanampattinam. National Workshop on Climate Change

We are pleased to announce that the Tamil Nadu Climate Change Mission (TNCCM), Department of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Tamil Nadu, has accepted the proposal submitted by Dr. P. Thenmozhi, Head of the Department of Zoology, and Dr. T. Ganesh Kumar, Assistant Professor & Coordinator of the Enviro Club, St. Joseph’s College of Arts and Science , Cuddalore. As part of this initiative, TNCCM has also sanctioned a grant of 1,00,000 to support the successful organization of a National Workshop on Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability. This workshop aims to bring together researchers, academicians, environmentalists, and students to discuss the pressing issue of climate change, its impact on biodiversity, and sustainable environmental practices. National Science Day 2025

On February 28, 2025, the Department of Physics organized National Science Day program with great enthusiasm. The event featured an inspiring talk on "Empowering Young Science Minds", delivered by Dr. K. Carthigayan, Assistant Professor at Women's Engineering College, Pondicherry. As part of the event, postgraduate students showcased their knowledge by delivering insightful presentations on recent trends in physics. Their discussions covered cutting-edge advancements, fostering curiosity and enthusiasm among the attendees. Additionally, all undergraduate students actively participated in a quiz competition, which tested their scientific knowledge and encouraged a spirit of learning and teamwork. Silver Medal Triumph at the 10th Asia Pacific Deaf Games

M. Karthik, a second-year postgraduate student from the Department of Mathematics at our college, represented the Indian team in the 10th Asia Pacific Deaf Games held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from December 1 to 8. He participated in the 110m and 400m hurdles. In this competition, he secured second place in the 110m hurdles, winning a silver medal and bringing pride to our nation, state, and district. We extend our heartfelt congratulations on behalf of our college to this remarkable achiever.

Success in the CM Trophy

214 students of our college won prizes in various sports and games in the Chief Minister Trophy District Level Tournaments held at Anna Stadium Cuddalore from 17/09/24 to 19/09/24. They won a total prize amount of Rs. 3 lakhs. 250 students participated in the competitions. 67 students are selected for the state level Chief Minister; Trophy Tournament.
