ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Commerce was started in the year 1991, and upgraded as P.G Department in the year 2004. The M. Phil and Ph. D were started in the year 2009 and 2011 respectively. Presently the department has 14 staff members and 944 students. Most of our of faculty members are well qualified with Ph.D. NET & SLET, dedicated and experienced to provide quality education to the students. The Department provides placement facility and trains the students in their career. The Department had been pioneering in conducting various activities in the State level, National level and International level for the overall personality development of students.

Annual Events of the Department
STUDENTS’ EYE
This is a National Level Seminar conducted every year exclusively for the Students.Research papers are presented by the students and best papers are awarded with prize.
COMMET
COMMET is an Inter Collegiate Competitions and Intra Departmental Exhibition conducted every year. Students from different Colleges participate in the competitions and winners are awarded with prize. In Intra Departmental Exhibition the students from commerce department exhibits stalls in the given theme.
INTRA DEPARTMENTAL COMPETITIONS
Intra Departmental Competitions are conducted every year for the Commerce Students in order to bring out their inner hidden talents. The students are actively participating in the competitions and winners are awarded with prize.

To prepare students serve the society by becoming well qualified professionals, administrators, managers and self-skilled entrepreneurs.
Mission:
To improve the students’ conceptual capabilities, suitable for fulfilling the latest needs and values to upgrade their skills and abilities for societal needs.

It’s my honour to welcome to the PG and Research Department of Commerce of St. Joseph’s College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Cuddalore. The department offerscourses such as B. Com, M. Com, M. Phil and Ph. D (Full-Time & Part-Time)with the support of efficient, experienced and well qualified faculty members. The courses which we offer, helps the students to get exposure to innovative ideas and new concepts which can shape them to compete in the job market, Entrepreneurial field etc.,
We can proudly say that our department is being pioneer in many activitiesand it has organised various Inter-Collegiate Competitions, National Level Seminars, Intra departmental Competitions, Workshops on Personality Development, Career Guidance etc., and also offering Value added Courses in order to develop them in multi-dimensional level.
In addition to academic excellence, we focus on the students morality and discipline by inculcating the value of punctuality and regularity.We have well equipped Commerce Lab with 85Computers with latest configuration through which we offer courses like Tallyerp 9, GST Filing etc.
In our department 12 out of 14 staff members are with Ph. D qualification and out of which 7 have obtained Ph. D Guideship and effectively guiding the scholars objectively.Weacclaimed anunique record in our institution that 7 Ph.D. Scholars have successfully completed and at present 15 candidates are pursuing. Our staff members are committed, dedicated and sincere in rendering service to the students community.
We hope this website helps you to visualise and understand our department’s Academicand other activities better. We can concretely say that our department is student centered by making them employable with social values and ethics.
