Computer Application

The DepThe Department of English has been carving its imprint in St.Josephโ€™s College of Arts and Science since 1991. The Department offers B.A. English, M.A. English and M.Phil. English Programmes from 2008, 2011 and 2013 respectively. B.A. English Programme is offered in two Shifts โ€“ Shift I for boys and Shift II for girls. M.A., & M.Phil., Programmes are in the structure of co-education. The Department has been raised to the standard of Research Department in the year 2013 by offering M.Phil., Research Programme in English. The Department imparts both language and literature to the student community. It has been teaching Part II Communicative English to all UG students. The Department has organized Seminars and Workshops and also engaged in various research activities. It has been taking efforts to provide a firm foundation in English language for students mainly from the relegated section of the society. The Department has been conducting Bridge course for I year students to teach Basic English Grammar. The Department has released six text books for Part II English-Communicative English I, II, III & IV for B.A., / B.Sc., Programme and Communicative English for I & II B.COM/ B.COM (BM)/ BBA(CA)/BCA Programmes. The Department offers Value Added Courses such as Basic English for Competitive Examinations, Communicative English to the students. The Language Lab is available and has been upgraded for teaching Phonetics and Spoken English. The Department has well placed and resourceful Alumni. The Department is heading towards offering Ph.D., Programme in near future.
